What Is An Ethernet Cable?

An Ethernet cable is a network cable used to connect a computer to a router. It can also be used with other devices, such as some network storage or smart TV. It is not always necessary to connect it directly to the router. For this, the Ethernet sockets located on the walls (such as the classic plugs or light points) also allow the user to connect the device in question and access the network.  In short, it is the cable that is used to access the Internet. Therefore, it is useless to have 600 Mbps fiber contracted if the cable only supports a maximum of 100 Mbps.

Pre-CAT 5 cables are outdated due to poor performance and are not recommended for use today, even if they are already around the house. Other, more advanced types of Ethernet cable are very inexpensive and pay off a lot. Whenever possible, it is best to opt for Cat 5e or higher Ethernet cables.
